“My most important professional life lessons have come from the sports pitch, not a lecture theatre or classroom.”

Members of City Business Network were treated to an inspirational session on ‘Transformational Leadership’ by Professor Laura McAllister CBE on Thursday night.

Drawing on her experience from captaining the Welsh women’s national team, Chairing of Sport Wales and Board Membership of Stonewall - the organisation behind the Rainbow Laces campaign supported by Swansea City players at Wednesday night's game against West Brom - McAllister (pictured below) spoke about the characteristics of effective leaders, including the personal values which should underline personal success.

She was joined on stage by Sara Moseley, of Mental Health and EFL Partners Charity MIND, who highlighted the issues faced in today’s workplace, be it on or off the field, as well as the work they are undertaking with the EFL as part of their partnership.

City Business Network is in its inaugural season and the first event was opened and headlined by Swans boss Graham Potter, club legend and ambassador Leon Britton and Michelle Owen from Sky Sports, with two more events planned for the 2018/19 season.
