Goalkeeper Claire Skinner enjoyed a Swansea City Ladies debut to remember as she kept a clean sheet in their 5-0 victory over Aberystwyth Town.

Skinner signed for the Swans in December, but has had to be extremely patient when it comes to making her first appearance for the Welsh Premier Women’s League champions.

Her Swans bow was delayed as a result of the season being paused due to Wales being placed under tier-four lockdown restrictions.

But, with the wait over, the goalkeeper introduced herself with a fine performance and a shut-out for her new side.

“It’s amazing to make my debut so long after signing, and what a way to start with a 5-0 win, it is brilliant,” she said.

“It wasn’t a bad way to start and to keep a clean sheet was the most important thing for me.

“I haven’t played for a long time, so getting the rustiness out of my performance straight away was good.”

Now that the Wales international has played her first game for Swansea, she is hoping that her move and future performances will have a positive impact on her future with the national side.

“Getting games under my belt, clean sheets and increasing my performance level will hopefully help me with my Wales career," she added.

"But the focus moves onto our next game and hopefully, after making my debut, I can get another start under my belt.

“Now it is just about focusing on training and getting our performance ready for next week.”

Swansea travel to take on newly-promoted-outfit Cascade in their next fixture on Sunday, March 20.
