Clement demands more progress

Paul Clement is eyeing more pre-Christmas points as Swansea City look to climb the Premier League table.

The Swans boss last week challenged his players to make sure they matched the 12-point haul they had at the midway point last season this time around.

They duly delivered only a third league victory of the campaign against West Brom at the weekend to take them to a dozen points for the season and lift them off the bottom of the division.

Now the Swans have three games – at home to Manchester City and Crystal Palace and away at Everton – before they reach halfway in 2017-18, and Clement wants to put more points on the board.

“We really needed the win against West Brom last weekend,” said the Swans boss.

“We are up to 12 points now with three games to go until we reach halfway in the season.

“Let’s see what we can do before we turn for home in the 20th game of the season.”

Few will expect the Swans to get anything against Pep Guardiola’s City side.

The Manchester heavyweights are 11 points clear at the top of the table having won 14 successive league matches.

Nevertheless, Clement does not regard Wednesday night’s game as a free hit.

“We are the underdogs, there’s no question about that,” he added.

“But there are examples of teams in the past who have been in that situation and got a result.

“We will try to do that on Wednesday. We know it will be tough, but we will try to make it as hard for them as we can.”

* Supporters are advised to arrive early for Wednesday’s game. The Liberty Stadium car parks will close 15 minutes prior to kick-off.

Landore park and walk is open and park and ride options from Felindre and The Rec near St Helen’s rugby ground are available.

The Jacks Zone will not open for this game.
