Swansea City has donated a signed shirt to every club in the Swansea Junior Football League after what has been a very difficult year for all junior players in the area.

The impact of Covid-19 on local leisure facilities and junior sport has been well documented and the club wanted to give something back and allow all teams to raffle and raise funds to help those involved.

Karen Trussler, chairperson and safeguarding officer for the Swansea Junior Football League, said: “On behalf of the league, I would like to thank Swansea City for the very kind donation of a signed shirt for every club.

“In the current climate, many of our clubs have experienced financial hardship while trying to maintain football for the 2,500 young people in our league. The opportunity to raffle or auction these shirts will no doubt help clubs and we are very grateful.

“The continued ability to provide football for our players will also improve their mental health by giving them an outlet to expend their energy and spend time with their friends in a structured environment.”

Rebecca Edwards-Symmons, head of commercial at Swansea City added: “This is a small gesture that we felt we could do in the here and now to support these junior clubs, which are vital to our business in terms of team support and development.”
