Dyer: Rest is best for Swans

Michael Laudrup's side have already played seven games since the beginning of the campaign, and following the international break they face three games in one week against Liverpool, Valencia and Crystal Palace.

Despite the hectic schedule, Dyer thinks the break will ensure the squad are more than ready for the visit of the early league leaders to the Liberty on Monday, September 16.

"I've been injured, so it's been a bit different for me, but for the boys that have been playing, it's been quite a tough start to the season with all of the games going on," said Dyer, who is recovering from a hamstring strain.

"It'll be good for them to have a few days break and then come back fighting fit. Then we are in all week for the game against Liverpool, so it should set us up well."

After the match against Liverpool, Swansea are back in action just three days later against Valencia in the club's opening fixture of the Europa League Group Stage.

The game at the Mestalla Stadium is one that Dyer is particularly relishing.

"Everyone knows who Valencia are," said Dyer. "It's going to be great for us to play a team like them. Obviously Pablo (Hernandez) came from there, and he knows all about the team. 

"It's going to be a really tough test for us; they've had some quality players, and they are a massive team - especially in Europe."

Swansea aren't the only ones heading to Spain, though, after Dyer's former Southampton team-mate Gareth Bale secured a lucrative move to Real Madrid on transfer deadline day.

"I'm so happy for him," expressed Dyer. "He's such a nice guy, and he's got bags of ability. 

"To see him where he is now, after training with him all the way up and to see what he has transformed into has been quite phenomenal. 

"He's playing the best football of his career, and who could turn down Real Madrid? I'm really pleased for him."
