Evans targets four in a row

Cameron Evans believes Swansea City Under-18s have what it takes to continue their winning run in Premier League South when they face West Ham at Fairwood this Saturday (11am).

The academy Swans target their fourth successive league win after victories over Fulham, Reading and Aston Villa moved them up to fourth in the table.

And first-year scholar Evans reckons the under-18s can continue their successful league run.

“We are full of confidence and can definitely produce more going forward,” the 16-year-old defender said.

“As a team we are taking our chances in attack but still keeping defensively organised. It has worked well throughout the season and we are not afraid of the big teams.

“West Ham are always tough to play. They will press us high up so it will be up to us to contain that.

“But we are confident and I think we can continue our good form and look to get another three points.”

Evans, who has progressed through the Swans’ academy structure from the age of eight, has featured five times for the under-18s so far this campaign.

The centre-back scored his first goal for the under-18s during January’s 3-2 win over Villa.

And with players like Brandon Cooper stepping up to the development squad in recent months, Evans hopes to get more game-time.

“I am loving playing for the under-18s. I have started to get a few more opportunities since Christmas,” he continued. “It is important I take my chances and continue to play well.

“It was great to get my first goal for the side against Villa. That only adds more confidence to my game.

“I hope I can continue to play apart with the team over the coming months and help the side produce more wins to finish as high as possible in the table.”
