FULL-TIME: Chelsea 2 Swans 0

28th April

Chelsea avenged their Capital One Cup semi-final defeat to the Swans with a 2-0 win at Stamford Bridge.
Two goals in three minutes at the end of the first half put the Swans to the sword, firstly Oscar firing into the bottom far corner before sub Frank Lampard beat Michel Vorm from the spot after Leon Britton had brought down Juan Mata.
One big positive from a disappointing afternoon was the return of Neil Taylor, with the Welsh international completing his comeback from injury by replacing Ben Davies for the final ten minutes.
Taylor had been expected to miss the entire season after sustaining a broken ankle against Sunderland in September, but almost eight months on he was back on the field in the Barclays Premier League.
This defeat meant the Swans remained ninth with 42 points with four games to play.

The Swans made two changes to the starting XI. In went Ki Sung-Yueng and Wayne Routledge, which meant Nathan Dyer and Luke Moore were included among the substitutes.
Michu, who scored the opening goal in the Capital One Cup semi-final victory at this venue, led the line.

Chelsea: Petr Cech, Cesar Azpilicueta, Gary Cahill, John Terry, Ashley Cole, Oscar, Ramires (Frank Lampard, 24), David Luiz, Juan Mata, Eden Hazard, Demba Ba.
Subs: Ross Turnbull, Branislav Ivanovic, Fernando Torres, John Obi Mikel, Yossi Benayoun, Ryan Bertrand.

Swans: Michel Vorm, Angel Rangel, Chico Flores, Ashley Williams (capt), Ben Davies (Neil Taylor, 81), Leon Britton (Itay Shechter, 70), Ki Sung-Yueng, Jonathan de Guzman, Pablo Hernandez, Wayne Routledge (Nathan Dyer, 67), Michu.
Subs: Gerhard Tremmel, Dwight Tiendalli, Garry Monk, Luke Moore.

The first effort of the game fell to the hosts when, after the Swans failed to clear their lines, Eden Hazard fired a low effort from 20 yards straight at Michel Vorm.
The Dutch keeper then had to dive low to get a hand to Demba Ba's fierce shot when the Swans handed over possession, then the visitors asked questions of the Blues defence as Wayne Routledge's intended cross for Michu just failed to find the Spaniard before being cleared by Ashley Cole.
Home boss Rafael Benitez was forced into an early change as ex-Swans loanee Frank Lampard replaced the injured Ramires.
The Swans then created a decent chance of their own, Angel Rangel and Pablo Hernandez linking up before the latter fired low and wide of the far post.
At the other end, Vorm had to be quick on his toes to race out and beat Oscar to the loose when the Brazilian was in on goal before a series of blocks by the visitors defence kept another wave of pressure under control.
Lampard drove over from 20 yards before the Swans worked a counter attack with Hernandez slipping a pass through for Michu, but he failed to get his shot on target.
David Luiz nodded an Oscar free-kick wide and then Lampard brought the best of Vorm, as his low effort was palmed just wide for a corner by the outstretched Dutch stopper.
From Eden Hazard's delivery, Gary Cahill rose highest but he headed over from six yards.
But the hosts weren't to be denied any longer, John Terry slipping a pass through to Lampard who then spread right to Oscar, and the Brazilian shot across goal and into the bottom far corner.
Things got worse in added on time, Juan Mata going down under a challenge from Leon Britton, and Lampard blasted his penalty past Vorm and into the bottom corner.

Half-time: Chelsea 2 Swans 0

The Swans made a bright start to the second half as they attempted to cut the deficit.
Hernandez blasted well over after Michu beat Terry to a through ball before teeing up his fellow Spaniard before a fine passing move involving Leon Britton, Angel Rangel and Ki - which started just inside the Swans box - ended with Routledge racing into the Chelsea box before Gary Cahill's sliding challenge denied him a shot on goal.
Then Ki threaded through a fine pass for Rangel in the box, but his low goalbound shot was deflected wide for a corner by the foot of Petr Cech.
Then it was the turn of Vorm to save his side, the Swans keeper reacting quickly to palm Ba's shot - which deflected off Ashley Williams' boot - wide.
The Swans then forced Chelsea into a mistake as Jonathan de Guzman intercepted Lampard's pass, but the midfielder's attempted backheel to Michu didn't pay off and the home defence cleared the danger.
Michael Laudrup made changes as Nathan Dyer replaced Routledge and Itay Shechter came on for Britton for the last 20 minutes.
Chelsea almost made it 3-0 as Hazard's low centre found Mata, but his low angled drive across goal just fizzed past the far post.
And for the final ten minutes, Neil Taylor completed his comeback from injury as he replaced Ben Davies, with the Jack Army cheering every pass he made.
But it was the home crowd who were almost cheering the next goal as Cech's long punt found its way to Ba, but the striker's volley was parried and then collected by Vorm.
Dyer threatened to pull one back in the final minute, cutting inside onto his left foot before driving low and straight at Cech.
But that was the final action as the Blues strengthened their Champions League hopes.
