FULL-TIME: Swans U21s 1 Crystal Palace 3

31st March
A second-half brace by Jerome Williams saw Swansea City Under-21s beaten at the Liberty in the Professional Development League Two.

The young Swans went into the tie aiming for their third successive victory, but went down 3-1 to Crystal Palace on Monday night.

Luke Croll opened the scoring for the visitors when he headed home in the 17th minute before Liam Shephard put the Swans back on terms with a beautifully struck shot, ten minutes before the break.

But two close-range strikes from Williams in the second period saw the Eagles take all three points back to London.

The young Swans started brightly and were first to test the opposition's goal, nine minutes into the first period, when Alex Bray latched onto Kenji Gorre's neatly threaded ball before hitting his shot straight at goalkeeper David Gregory.

But it was the visitors who took the lead in the 17th minute when Luke Croll headed across goal and into the top corner to fire the Eagles in front.

The Swans responded well to the setback and were back on terms in the 36th minute when Liam Shephard capped off a superb move by the Swans when he drilled home from the corner of the 18-yard box to make it 1-1.

The ball went from left to right in a flowing move that saw Adam King tee up Shephard to fire an unstoppable strike into the back of the net.

Early on in the second period, the Swans had half-chances through Shephard and Ryan Hedges to complete the turnaround, but it was the visitors who regained their advantage when Jerome Williams knocked home from close range after Gregor Zabret spilled Kyle de Silva's in-swinging corner.

And with just over ten minutes left on the clock, the visitors rounded off their victory as Williams scored his second from another goalmouth scramble after the ball had rebounded back off the bar.
