Gwen Horgan feels humbled to be a part of Swansea City Ladies as her maiden season with the first team fast approaches.

Horgan is the youngest member of the Swans squad at the age of 16, and she was involved in the party that travelled  out to Cyprus for their recent UEFA Women's Champions League fixtures.

Horgan has been a part of the set up at Swansea since under-12s, and she is ecstatic to be playing in the same side as some of her childhood idols.

“It’s amazing (to share a pitch with my idols); Katy Hosford used to be my coach, and she taught me a lot,” said the midfielder.

“To be able to say that I play in the same team as her is just incredible and I wasn’t expecting it at all.

“I have been excited for it the whole time, and to be given the opportunity to go to the Champions League was something I wasn’t expecting.

“So, hopefully now I can take that experience with me into the league and make a difference in some areas.

“I was the youngest in the squad for the Champions League and I wasn’t expecting it at all to go.

“When Ian (Owen) called me to say I would be going, I was amazed and astonished, but it is an experience that I hope to have again.”

Horgan will be hoping to make her debut this Sunday as Swansea City Ladies take on Cardiff Met at the Cyncoed Campus in front of the Sgorio cameras (4:15pm) in their Genero Adran Premier opener.
