Jess Williams is eager to face her former side Cyncoed this Sunday as Swansea City Ladies welcome the Mighty Oaks to Llandarcy.

The defender signed for Swansea in 2018 from their Welsh Premier Women’s League counterparts.

Williams experienced success with her former side, lifting the League Cup in 2018 after Cyncoed defeated Cardiff Met 1-0 in the final; with current Swans Shaunna Jenkins also part of that Cyncoed line-up.

And Williams admits it will add a little extra edge as she comes up against a number of familiar faces this weekend.

“I’m looking forward to it. It’s nerve-racking to see all my old team-mates but on the other side of it I’m excited to go and play and get some more minutes under my belt,” she said.

“Cyncoed was a club that helped me develop through the Welsh Premier Women’s League and I enjoyed my time there.

“They helped me progress so much and, when it was my time to leave, they respected my decision because I always wanted to play at the top tier and I feel like I am right now.”

Williams and her team-mates go into this weekend's fixture in confident mood after resuming the campaign with two wins, nine goals scored, and none conceded.

And she hopes they can continue their fine form.

“At the moment each game is vital and we’ll take each week as it comes and we look forward to stepping on the pitch to hopefully get three points," she added.

“We are full of confidence; training is going well and we are working on things that needed working on before the break.

“Going into Sunday’s match I’m sure we can get three points and a clean sheet if we can produce the right performance."
