Jess Williams of Swansea City Ladies has been named Welsh Premier Women’s League player of the week.

The Swans came away from their game against Cascade at Ystrad Mynach as convincing 4-0 winners, keeping a clean sheet in the process.

Williams recently returned to action after a long spell on the sidelines following a knee fracture.

And the defender was pleasantly surprised about being named as the standout player in last week's round of top-flight fixtures.

“I was pretty shocked when I saw it but it is always a pleasure to get player of the week, and it is always a pleasure to get a clean sheet along with a 4-0 win as well," she said.

“My return from injury hasn’t been easy but it was my first 90 minutes since September, it went well and to get recognised for it is even better.

“I’ve worked extremely hard to get my comeback and to play 90 minutes for the first time in six months and to earn the reward is amazing.

“It just makes want to push on and keep working hard."
