Korey Smith believes Swansea City’s unbeaten start to the Championship season gives them a solid foundation to build from.

The Swans have taken seven points from a possible nine so far, and have yet to concede a league goal in their three games so far.

Steve Cooper’s side allied their defensive solidity to some sharp, slick attacking play as goals from Andre Ayew and Jamal Lowe gave them a 2-0 win at Wycombe at the weekend.

And Smith, who joined the Swans over the summer following six years with Bristol City, feels his new side are settling and gelling well, which is being reflected in results.

Swans celebrate v Wycombe

“For me personally, it’s always good to get off to a good start and earn that respect and trust from your team-mates. I think I’ve done that,” he said.

“The team have kept three clean sheets and that’s always a solid foundation to build on. Keeping a clean sheet isn’t easy against any team.

“Obviously, the defence has been brilliant, but it’s a team effort and we’re all putting in a real shift to stop other teams scoring because we know we’ve got the quality to score goals.

“We scored two at the weekend, it could have been more, but some of our play was great to be a part of. I hope everyone enjoyed that.”
