Kyrell Wilson delighted with Derby win as he explores a new position
Swansea City Under-18s' forward Kyrell Wilson was over the moon to score in the Swans 2-1 win over South Wales rivals Cardiff City in the Professional Development League.
Wilson opened the scoring after six minutes, with great link up play between himself and Geoff Bony giving him a simple finish.
The forward was delighted that he was able to get himself a goal as well as defeating local rivals Cardiff.
“It’s great for us to be able to get a win over our rivals, everyone is really happy with the result,” said Wilson.
“I’m really happy to have scored two in two, it was a little bit of a slow start for me but to start finding myself on the scoresheet has been really good.
“It was a quality bit of play for the goal between me and Geoff, it’s been about us putting what we’ve been working on in training and it’s been really good to see it coming out on the pitch now.
“The result is massive for all of us, it’s a big Welsh derby and everyone in the changing room is buzzing to have got the result."
The 17-year-old’s goal was his second in as many games, with Wison playing behind the two strikers as opposed to leading the line as he had done earlier in the season.
Wilson feels that he still has a lot to learn in his new position, but is happy that he has been successful in the position so far.
“I’ve been playing just behind the strikers, it’s a new position for me but I’ve been playing well there so far and I’m just happy to find myself a regular position in the team," he said.
“I’ve played the last two games behind the strikers and I’m still learning about playing in the position, but so far it has been quiet successful so I’m definitely enjoying it so far.”
