McKay is expected to start again on Tuesday night as Fleetwood take on fourth-placed Sunderland at the Stadium of Light in a game where fellow Swans loanee Declan John is hoping to make his Mackems debut.

In the Championship, Jefferson Montero was involved in a six-goal thriller as Pep Clotet's Birmingham City held Garry Monk's Sheffield Wednesday at St Andrew's.

The Ecuadorian came off the bench with eight minutes left as the Blues earned a share of the spoils thanks to Scott Hogan's last-gasp strike.

It was a 16th appearance of the season for Montero, who is yet to open his account for the Blues.

Steven Benda was between the sticks as League Two leaders Swindon Town beat Grimsby 3-1.

The German stopper notched up his 25th appearance of the campaign for the Robins, who travel to Mansfield on Saturday as Jack Evans looks to make his debut for the latter.

Joe Lewis, meanwhile, had a clean sheet and three points to toast as Torquay United kept up their play-off hopes in the Conference after a 1-0 victoy over Halifax.

The centre-back has now featured 26 times for Torquay, who sit 14th in the division.

Both Joel Asoro and Kristoffer Peterson were in action in the Dutch top flight.

Asoro played the full game as FC Groningen went down 1-0 to VVV Venlo while Peterson helped Utrecht beat FC Twente 2-1.

Finally, Cameron Berry started for Carmarthen Town as they beat Cefn Druids at Richmond Park.
