Jordi Amat enjoyed his weekend as he featured in Real Betis’ comprehensive La Liga victory over Espanyol.

The on-loan Swansea City centre-back played the full 90 minutes as Betis cruised to victory.

Amat also came off the bench for the last 27 minutes of last week’s 3-1 win over Alaves, and his team are now eighth in the table.

The news was not so good for the two other Swans in the Spanish top flight.

Roque Mesa was an unused substitute in Sevilla’s 2-1 loss at Leganes, while Borja did not make it off the bench in Malaga’s goalless draw at Celta Vigo.

The stalemate was a decent result for Malaga, but the bottom club are running out of games in their bid to survive.

In South America, Jefferson Montero came off the bench at half-time as Emelec, his club in Ecuador, were beaten 2-1 at home by Brazil’s Flamengo in the Copa Libertadores.

Back on these shores, meantime, there was no goal this weekend for Oli McBurnie as Barnsley were beaten by Millwall.

McBurnie has been a huge hit since joining the Tykes, but he could not save them from a 2-0 home loss in the Championship.

In League One, Matt Grimes made his 38th appearance of the season for Northampton Town as they took on Rotherham.

It was a bad day for the Cobblers, however, as they were beaten 3-0.

Wigan Athletic were in Emirates FA Cup action against Southampton, with Jay Fulton watching on from the bench as they were beaten 2-0.

In League Two, Adam King played for just over an hour as Mansfield claimed a 1-1 draw at local rivals Notts County, while Tyler Reid was an unused sub in Newport’s draw with Luton.

Joe Rodon came on for the last 14 minutes of Cheltenham’s 1-1 draw with Chesterfield.

In the Scottish Championship, Ryan Blair got a full 90 minutes under his belt as Falkirk claimed a creditable goalless draw with Livingston.
