Loan watch
Borja was back in Alaves’ La Liga starting line-up as they faced Eibar this weekend – but the striker’s reunion with his old club was cut short.
Having scored a late winner after coming off the bench against Villarreal the previous weekend, Borja – who had previously been out injured – played 73 minutes in the Copa Del Rey against Girona last Wednesday.
And he started again as Alaves went to Eibar, the club where Borja thrived during a loan spell in 2015-16, on Sunday.
However, the 26-year-old was sacrificed after only 29 minutes after Alaves saw defender Ruben Duarte sent off.
And the day ended miserably for Borja’s team as a late goal saw Eibar triumph 2-1.
In Turkey, Andre Ayew played the full 90 minutes as Fenerbahce drew 2-2 with Galatasaray.
Ayew’s team had trailed 2-0 but fought back to claim a point from a game which featured three late red cards.
Andre’s brother Jordan, meantime, came on for the final 19 minutes as Crystal Palace were beaten 3-1 at Chelsea in the Premier League on Sunday.
In League Two, centre-back Keston Davies was an unused substitute in Notts County’s 2-2 draw with Port Vale.
Another young Swans defender, Ben Cabango, has got two more 90-minute appearances for The New Saints under his belt in the last week.
He played in the 5-0 League Cup win over Llandudno and the 1-0 league loss at Aberystwyth.
