Marc Guehi | We'll be ready to go again, that's our mindset

Marc Guehi is confident Swansea City have the mental strength to respond to a rare defeat when they face Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough on Saturday.

Steve Cooper’s side are quickly back in action following Wednesday’s FA Cup defeat to Manchester City, where the Swans produced a battling display as the Premier League leaders created a new record of 15 consecutive wins in all competitions for a club in the English league structure.

There is certainly no shame in losing to a side of the calibre of Pep Guardiola’s Citizens, and it was just Swansea’s sixth defeat from 31 games in all competitions this term.

Which means defender Guehi has every confidence they will respond in the right way when they take on the Owls in South Yorkshire.

“I think it was a good learning curve for the team to come up against some top opposition like Manchester City with a great manager. It was a good opportunity to play against them.

“Obviously, it was a disappointing result, but we can take a lot of positives from it, especially in the resilience we showed and how boys kept running and kept working hard.

“That's the mentality of every single game; not just because of this game, but because of what we want to achieve this season.

“The boys want to improve as players, as individuals and as a team as well. That's the mentality we have as a group; we want to get better, improve each game and hopefully, we can keep taking that into each game.

“We know we’re going to have to be ready again this weekend. We must pick ourselves up and make sure we're ready for a tough game against Sheffield Wednesday.

“We know how they play and how difficult they make the game, but if we come with the right mentality and are in the right state of mind then I think it will be a good game for us.”
