Swansea City Ladies youngster Nieve Jenkins has been named the Welsh Premier Women’s League player of the week.

The youngster was named as the standout performer in Swansea’s 4-0 derby victory over Briton Ferry last Sunday.

Jenkins has displayed plenty of promise this season and has caught the eye as a result of her consistent performances for the Swans, who currently sit top of the table after winning all their games so far.

The 19-year-old revealed it was a pleasant surprise to be presented with the award.

“It was a shock to be awarded player of the week but I am obviously really pleased,” said Jenkins.

“It was also a great team performance and the competition within the squad is really high.

“Everyone is fighting to keep their place, so to be recognised for playing well is really good.”

The Swans are without a game this weekend with their next match set for Sunday, February 2 when they visit Aberystwyth Town.
