Oli McBurnie hopes Swansea City can keep the ball rolling ahead of their Premier League clash with Liverpool by seeing off Wolves at the Liberty tonight.

The Swans have made progress since Carlos Carvalhal took charge at the end of last month, with four points coming from their three top-flight games under the Portuguese.

Carvalhal’s side also claimed a respectable goalless draw at Molineux in round three of the Emirates FA Cup, a result which set up this evening’s replay in SA1.

And while there are no points on offer against Wolves, McBurnie reckons victory over the runaway Championship leaders would set the Swans up for next Monday’s Premier League encounter with Liverpool.

“The gaffer has talked about building momentum, and a win in any competition will help us to do that,” the striker said.

“That’s what we’ll try to do against Wolves.

“Of course staying in the league is our priority, but a cup run would be an added bonus for all of us and it would help our confidence.”

Beating Wolves would be no mean feat, for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have not lost in 14 matches.

But the Swans head into the game with increased belief courtesy of Carvalhal.

“It’s a tough game for us – Wolves are flying in the Championship,” McBurnie added.

“We saw in the first game that they are more than capable of competing at Premier League level and I think they will go up at the end of the season.

“But we have worked on the training pitch this week and we go into the game full of confidence.

“The gaffer has instilled that in us. We want to win every game we play.

“He doesn’t want us to go out looking to draw a game – he always wants to win.”
