Graham Potter has paid tribute to Angel Rangel as the Liberty legend gets set for a return to Swansea City this weekend.

Rangel is hoping to shake off a groin problem in time to feature for Queens Park Rangers against his long-time employers on Saturday (3pm).

The right-back will go down as one of Swans’ all-time greats having played 374 games during an 11-year stint at the club.

Rangel departed when his contract expired at the end of last season, and signed a short-term deal with the Rs in August.

He has made a big impression at Loftus Road, helping Steve McClaren’s team turn their form around after a slow start to 2018-19.

And though he has never worked with Rangel, Potter is well aware of the contribution he made in South West Wales.

“Angel was a fantastic servant of Swansea City and he is very well respected,” said the Swans boss.

“I have nothing but respect for what he has done in his career.

“It’s great to see him playing football because I know he wants to play until his late 30s.

“Obviously we hope he will do that and we wish him all the best with QPR, aside from this Saturday of course.

“Angel was here for 11 years. He is a modern-day example of a top professional who was a big part of the success of this club.”
