Swansea City Ladies

Swansea City Ladies make their first away trip of 2021 today as they travel to Ystrad Mynach to face newly-promoted outfit Cascade YC (2pm).

The Swans restarted their campaign last Sunday with a convincing 5-0 victory over Aberystwyth, and will be seeking to build on that result and performance.

With title rivals Cardiff Met not in action this weekend, a win for the Welsh Premier Women’s League champions will send them top of the pile by three points.

Cascade will be in search of a victory to put same space in between themselves and their relegation rivals; they currently sit in eighth place with three points from six games played.

Colin Staples

Colin Staples: “Every team is out to prove a point against the teams that are at the top.

“We are expecting a tough game, it’s on their ground and, as you say, they are new to it (Welsh Premier Women’s League), so it could be a possible ‘cup final’ for them.

“We have to be ready for that, no banana skins. We really have to make sure that we are at the races and take those points when we can.

“For me it is nice to be top of the table at this stage but that doesn’t matter.

“If you are in contention that’s fine, but the top of the table at the end of the campaign is where you want to be.”

Today’s clash will be the first time the two sides have met.
