Preview | Swansea City U18s vs Colchester United U18s

18th March

Swansea City Under-18s return to Professional Development League action this weekend as they welcome Colchester United to Landore (2pm kick-off).

The Swans are looking to bounce back from a disappointing 2-1 defeat to QPR Under-18s last week. Filip Lissah put the Swans ahead in under two minutes from a corner, but two goals for Rayan Kolli were enough for the R’s to claim three points.

The defeat brought to an end a good run of form for the Swans, having won four of their previous five games before the defeat in London.

A win for the Swans could see them climb as high as fourth in the Professional Development League south group, depending on results across the league.

Colchester United come into the game in a rich vein of form, having won their previous three fixtures.

The U’s currently sit third in the Professional Development League south group, having earned a 2-1 win at home to Watford last time out.

Darren Davies

Swansea City Under-18s coach Darren Davies: “This game is an opportunity for us to put things right, it’s an opportunity for individuals to put it right as well as collectively.

“As a team, we need to show where we’ve come from and we need to get back to the standards that we all expect of each other.

“We look forward to being back home after a lot of long away trips as well as looking forward to having the chance to getting back to where we expect and to be ourselves.”

Previous meeting

The two sides last met in October 2021, with Colchester United coming out on top with a 3-1 win over the Swans.

Kacy Parish put the U’s ahead before Cameron Congreve found an equaliser from an indirect free-kick just 10 minutes later.

Yiazo Marcel-Dilangr fired in from close range to restore the U’s lead from a long throw-in, before Brad Ihionvien bundled home a third to seal the three points.
