Sigurdsson hails "massive" three points

5th March

Gylfi Sigurdsson hailed Swansea's 1-0 victory over Norwich City as a "massive" three points in their bid for Barclays Premier League survival.

Sigurdsson was once again on target - his eighth goal of the season and sixth from his last nine games - to separate the two sides at the Liberty Stadium.

After a cagey first half, the Iceland international swept home the match-winner following a neat assist by home debutant Leroy Fer.

And Sigurdsson insisted that the Swans must build on their back-to-back victories between now and the end of the season.

"It was a really important three points," reflected Sigurdsson. "It's massive because we were only six points above Norwich before the game, so it takes us to nine points and gives us a little bit of a cushion.

"But there's still a long way to go and we need to build on the last two wins. There's still nine games left and, as you've seen with this league, anyone can beat anyone.

"We went to the Emirates midweek and picked up three points, so we just have to make sure we keep climbing the table now.

"The game against Arsenal gave us a big boost and we kept a clean sheet today, which is fantastic.

"Things are looking better than what they did before the Arsenal game. Six points from the two games takes us to 33. We need a few more wins to get above 40 points."
