Steve Cooper excited but focused for second-leg task
Steve Cooper is excited but focused as Swansea City look to build on their first-leg advantage in their play-off semi-final against Brentford.
The Swans head to Griffin Park on Wednesday night with a 1-0 lead in the ledger, thanks to Andre Ayew’s superb strike at the Liberty Stadium on Sunday.
However, the head coach and his players know nothing is settled yet, ahead of what will be the final game at the Bees’ home ground before they move to a new stadium.
Cooper has been keen to stress that his side must keep the focus that helped them force their way into the play-off picture.
And, when asked if he had any nerves ahead of the second leg, the head coach spoke of his excitement at the challenge at hand.
“I’m very excited, I am very focused and I am really enjoying this job,” said the Swans boss.
“I am really enjoying working with these players, these staff and these supporters. It’s a privilege to be part of it.
“You want to thrive on these moments and enjoy these moments.
“We have been doing that and I hope we can keep that going.
“We will be ready for whatever comes, we will be looking to start well because that’s what it is to be professional and prepared.
“We have focused on ourselves all season, particularly since lockdown with the schedule we have had.
“That is what works for us, and we are continuing to do that.”
