Steve Cooper | The focus is on the game, not who we might face

Steve Cooper insists Swansea City will not be worrying about who they may face in the play-offs when they round off the Championship season at Watford this afternoon.

The Swans are guaranteed a top-six finish, and know they will almost certainly face either Bournemouth or Barnsley in the semi-finals depending on how results pan out on the final weekend.

But, given the number of potential permutations, Cooper has made clear the focus will only be on getting a positive result at Vicarage Road to round off a fine season, in which the Swans’ have secured back-to-back top-six finishes for the first time in 15 years.

And the focus will only switch to play-off opposition once the final outcome is known.

“Everybody will get what they deserve this year,” said the Swans head coach.

“If it’s automatic then you’ve got to say congratulations to Watford and Norwich.

“It’s a tremendous effort from them, likewise for the four teams getting into the play-offs.

“With that in mind we go to what would always be a tough game anyway, and we respect that, but we just go there wanting to get what we want out of it because it isn’t our final game.

“We have looked to get the most we can from every game this season and that will not change.

“Like I said, we’ve got to take care of our business. Whatever that brings in the play-offs we’ll tackle it head on and take it as it comes.”
