Steve Cooper | This is a game we want to attack with positivity
Steve Cooper says Swansea City will go into their clash with Sheffield Wednesday with a positive mindset, acknowledging it’s a game the hosts need to win.
The Swans return to the Liberty Stadium on Sunday following the midweek draw at Millwall which kept them four points off the play-off places.
Cooper’s side remain within tantalising reach of a top-six finish, but with just six games remaining the Swansea boss knows the importance of collecting a three-point haul against the Owls.
“We need to attack the game and the objective is to close the gap,” said Cooper.
“Obviously the picture may change with games being played before we do, but it’s about getting three points and closing the gap if possible.
“All the remaining games are massive, but attack is the right word for how we are looking at it.
“We are trying to remain positive, we are not allowing any negativity to come in.
“I think we definitely need to win, and we want to win.
“It’s hard to say it’s must-win because of how topsy-turvy results have been throughout the table, and we’ve been an example of that ourselves.
“That’s why I say we will never give up because I think each game will be a bit of a slog and a fight, because things are different, and it’s about mentality and being able to keep going.
“The focus is on three points, we have a gap to make up and the quicker we can make that gap up the easier we will make it for ourselves. That is what we are focused on, 100 per cent.”
