Steve Cooper hailed a fine all-round team performance after his Swansea City side returned to winning ways with an emphatic 3-0 win at Millwall.

Having lost their previous four games without scoring, the spotlight was on the Swans as they took on the Lions in front of the Sky cameras at The Den.

And they responded magnificently as a dominant showing was rewarded with a superb curling strike from Andre Ayew, and a pair of composed finishes from Jamal Lowe.

The goal scorers will take the headlines, but head coach Cooper was keen to stress that the credit had to be shared round as the visitors reignited their promotion hopes in fine style against a Millwall team that had lost just three of their previous 16 games.

“It was a good performance. The result and performance are the two most important things in any game and we got them today,” said Cooper.

“We needed to win and to do it in our way, in our style, away from home at a place like this is really positive.

“We were a good version of ourselves today. Everyone contributed.

“The back four were really strong, and Ryan Bennett and Kyle Naughton were excellent in our build-up as they were our outlets.

“Freddie has made an important save and the three midfield players were excellent in both sides of the game.

“We controlled the game and the ball today and that was really important.

“The third goal was an example of how we want to play, creating chances and being clinical.

“It’s really important now that we get back to Swansea and focus on Sheffield Wednesday because we have to keep going.

“We have stopped the rot, if you like, but this has to be the start of a positive run.”
