Steve Cooper is hopeful of adding further strength in depth to his Swansea City squad before the transfer window closes next month.

The Swans kick off the new Championship campaign at Preston on Saturday, with summer arrivals Korey Smith, Freddie Woodman, Morgan Gibbs-White, Marc Guehi and Jamal Lowe all in contention to feature.

Head coach Cooper has previously spoken of how pleased he has been with the early work done during the current window.

And he hopes there will still be further additions to his squad before the window comes to an end.

“I hope we will, we definitely need some players and some strength in depth,” said Cooper.

“We are working on some things at the moment, there is nothing concrete but we are certainly going to be bringing players in.

“We are still being careful with the financial situation given the current climate, so we won’t be buying loads of players.

“But there is opportunity to bring some in if the right deals are there to be done.”

Cooper also confirmed midfielder Matt Grimes will continue as Swansea City captain.
