Steve Cooper believes Swansea City have done good work in the transfer market as they close in on the start of the 2020-21 season.

It has been a busy few weeks with Korey Smith, Freddie Woodman, Morgan Gibbs-White, Marc Guehi and Jamal Lowe all sealing moves to the Swans.

Time is fast ticking down to the start of the season, with a Carabao Cup tie against Newport coming next Saturday before the league season commences at Preston a week later.

It has made for a frenetic off-season given the complications and constriction of scheduling brought about by the Coronavirus pandemic.

But the work on the make-up of Cooper's squad has pleased the Swans' boss.

“We have not got a lot of time before the start of the season because of the circumstances,” said Swansea’s head coach.

“Our season was extended because of the play-offs, but we’re not looking at it negatively.

“We are working hard on and off the pitch as a club. We are making the most of every part of the day.

“We have got players in with Freddie and Marc returning, Korey and Jamal joining on permanent deals and Morgan coming on loan, while Kyle has committed to a new contract.

“There’s a lot of work going on behind the scenes here, and fans can be assured that we are always working hard to try and improve the squad.

"I think we've brought in a good mix of players in terms of their ages and experience, but the key thing is we think they have the right ability and mentality to play for this club.

"The fact they were all so keen to come here reflects well on the work we are doing."
