Head coach Steve Cooper wants his Swansea City side to build on the confidence gained from their winning start to the new campaign and produce a strong performance at Derby on Saturday.

The Swans opened the 2019-20 season with a 2-1 win over Hull at the Liberty Stadium, as goals from Borja Baston and Mike van der Hoorn sealed all three points.

Phillip Cocu’s Rams also kicked off the campaign with a 2-1 win; Tom Lawrence netting a brace to see off Huddersfield.

It sets up an intriguing encounter at Pride Park, and Cooper says the Swans will travel to the East Midlands full of confidence.

“We are raring to go. Game days are the most important of the week, especially when you are doing well,” he said.

“So, we go into the weekend looking forward to putting on another good performance.

“We grew into the game against Hull and ended up being good for the result and we want to build on that.

“This is an away game against a big club who have had quite a lot of change there with the new manager and players coming in and going out.

“These are the games we want to be playing and we are very confident. We will be focusing on ourselves and be committed to doing the best we can.”
