Steve Cooper feels he and Swansea City learned a lot during the 2019-20 season, and is keen to see his side kick on when the new campaign gets under way.

Due to the suspension of football between March and June, the off-season is considerably shorter in 2020, with the first game of the new Championship season less than five weeks away.

Swansea head into the new term on the back of reaching the play-offs in Cooper’s first season in charge.

But the head coach has no intention of feeling satisfied with that outcome, and is determined to see more from his squad and himself.

“I see my situation as being like that of the team, really,” said Cooper as he reflected on his first season in senior management.

“I am still striving to improve, and we are still striving to get to where we want to be.

“I feel I have done some good things over the season I would like to continue with, and there are also bits I would like to learn from and get better at.

“I see a work in progress. I keep hearing people say we have had a good season or that we overachieved, but I don’t feel that.

“I see us as a work in progress and, until we get to where we want to get to, I will not be satisfied.”
