Steve Cooper insists there is no shortage of belief in the Swansea City dressing room as they prepare for the final trio of fixtures in the Championship season, with a play-off place on the line.

A strong performance against Leeds did not get its reward on Sunday as Pablo Hernandez’s late goal gave the Yorkshire club all three points.

But Swansea remain well in the hunt for a play-off place, with defeat having no impact on their league position or their one-point deficit to the top six.

Next up is Wednesday’s trip to face Nottingham Forest – one of the four teams in the play-off spots – with games against Bristol City and Reading following in short order.

And Cooper has every confidence his players are capable of bouncing back.

“The defeat hurt because we deserved more, but it cannot get in the way of our preparation for Nottingham Forest. There is no feeling sorry for ourselves, we have to get ready,” said Cooper.

“We have to beat these sides who are in and around us, and Forest away is about as tough as it gets.

“But if we want to achieve things you have to be successful and win games like this.

“It’s such an important time, but in the end we have to look after ourselves and not wait for others to give us a chance.

“There is a lot we can take into the game on the back of a good performance against Leeds.

“We have to go into every game committed to the plans we have to win and, if we get it right, we will give ourselves every chance.

“We have to believe in what we do and give 100 per cent, and we will do that.”
