Steve Cooper says Swansea City are targeting six points from their final two games as they look to pile the pressure on their Championship play-off rivals.

The Swans head into the penultimate round of fixtures sitting eighth in the table; three points behind sixth-placed Cardiff and a point behind Millwall in seventh.

It means a top-six finish is still within reach with Saturday’s game against Bristol City and a midweek trip to Reading to come.

If they are to make the cut, Swansea will need those ahead of them to stumble.

But Cooper knows that is something his side cannot control, all they can do is aim for a full haul and see what happens elsewhere.

“We definitely need to win,” said Cooper.

“There are a variety of things that can happen for and against us, so we have to concentrate on the two games and trying to get six points.

“It starts with a tough game against Bristol City, who have picked up points in recent weeks. But we have to aim for six points from the next two games, that’s for sure.

“We have to focus on our own situation, because that is the only thing we are in control of.

“We have to do everything we can, and then see what happens after that.

“There’s less than a week left, so things will be sorted out very, very quickly.

“It’s been a hectic period, so we have to take care of what we have to do and hope other things go our way.

“There’s a load of things that could happen, it’s very exciting, but we have to make sure we win.”
