Steve Cooper | We have to pick ourselves up and show some fight
Steve Cooper wants Swansea City to show they are up for the fight when they face Millwall this evening (5pm).
Having restarted the season with an impressive win at Middlesbrough, the Swans’ play-off hopes suffered a setback as they lost 1-0 to Luton at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday.
Cooper made clear his dissatisfaction with that showing, but he and his players do not have to wait long for a chance to make amends given a relentless fixture schedule that will see them play seven games in 23 days.
That sequence kicks off at The Den at tea-time this evening, and Cooper is expecting a reaction with Swansea now four points off the top six.
“It’s going to be a really hectic period,” said Cooper.
“This is a game we need a result from, games and points are precious at the moment because of how quickly they will come and go.
“The picture can change very quickly. We saw that after winning at Middlesbrough, it changed again after the weekend, and it is going to change a number of times before the end of the season.
“So, we have to look after ourselves, and we need to be absolutely ready to pick ourselves up after a disappointing day and show some fight.”
