The Swansea City squad hit the beach this week – but Paul Clement’s squad have not been taking it easy as preparations continue for their next Premier League test.

While the team are without their international team-mates due to national commitments, that hasn’t halted the Swans’ plans going into next week’s trip to Burnley.

A unique session this week saw the squad head to the city’s popular Three Cliffs Bay beach located on the Gower.

But gruelling sand dune runs and football drills were on the menu rather than relaxing on the deckchairs with an ice cream.

It was also an opportunity for team bonding, while the losing team from a particular passing drill had to brave a dip in the ice cold sea.

“It was a break from the routine and being out on the grass,” said Clement.

“We parked up in Southgate and ran down to Three Cliffs Bay. The session allowed us to do a lot of demanding physical work, which included running up the sand dunes and along the beach.

“We also did a lot of work on the ball, while it was also a good form of team bonding too."

He added: “It was a very successful session, and both the players and coaching staff took a lot from it.

“The coast and scenery we have here in Swansea is fantastic, and to combine that with a very successful training session made for a really good day’s preparation.”
