Swansea City are staying patient with Wilfried Bony as he continues his recovery from a cruciate ligament injury.

Bony has been sidelined since early February but has been working hard in a bid to get back into the first-team picture.

Swans boss Graham Potter would love to have the Ivory Coast international at his disposal with another batch of Championship games around the corner, but insists the time must be right for Bony to return.

“Wilfried has been away in Africa for a week for family reasons but he is back now and is making progress,” Potter said.

“We are hoping to step him into the group more and more in the next few weeks, but there’s no timescale on when he will be back yet.

“We have to be patient with him because of the nature of his injury and the fact that – I hope he won’t mind me saying this – he is no spring chicken. We have to do it the right way.”
