SwansAid applications reopen for 2015

5th February

SwansAid applications reopen on Saturday (Feb 7) with groups able to apply for considerable financial funding.
Since its introduction in September 2013, the grant scheme - run by Swans Community Trust - has helped us support a variety of charities, groups and community organisations across South West Wales.
Surfability UK - based in Caswell Bay - was just one of the community groups to benefit from SwansAid funding in 2014.
As well as more wetsuits and training courses for staff and volunteers, the group spent a large sum of their grant on a special beach access wheelchair, allowing more young people with disabilities to get involved with surfing.
Surfability Director Ben Clifford said: "This grant has been amazing - it has helped us fulfill a dream to get more people involved with surfing.
"I was using the chair recently with a young boy who had never been in the water before. He was just so happy to have the opportunity, and he was just blown away by the new experience. To be able to share that with people is amazing.
"The application is definitely worth applying for. If you're doing a good thing for the community this grant can really help support you.
"It's a great fund and it's really nice that Swansea City Community Trust and SwansAid can give back to groups like ours in the community."
Swansea Gymnastics Centre has this month been presented with the award of £10,000 from our last round of applications in autumn 2014.
You can read the full story in this Saturday's matchday programme edition of Jack Magazine.
