Swansea City Ladies began their preparations for the 2021-22 season with a 3-1 victory over Torquay United.

Sunday’s friendly was the first in the Swans’ preparation for their UEFA Women’s Champions League exploits next month.

In very warm conditions, Swansea went behind in the early stages after Dani Wyatt gave Torquay the lead from close range.

Last season’s top scorer Stacey John-Davis thought she had responded quickly but her header, which found the back of the net, was ruled out by an offside decision by the officials.

But, soon after, the forward did equalise after Chloe Chivers slotted a pass behind the Torquay defence and John-Davis found the top corner.

Just before half-time Katy Hosford put Swansea in control of the fixture as she finished off another fine pass by Chivers with ease.

In the second half Emma Beynon came agonisingly close to increasing the lead, however, she was unable to keep her shot down from close range following a threatening run from Laura Davies.

With just over an hour played Hosford made it 3-1 after John-Davis squared the ball to her for a simple tap-in.
