Swansea City sign Arsenal keeper Lukasz Fabianski

29th May

Swansea City is pleased to announce the club's first summer signing with the arrival of goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski from Arsenal.
The Polish international has signed a four-year deal with the club which will be activated on July 1 when his current agreement at the Emirates expires.
The 29-year-old, who has 21 caps, arrives at the Liberty Stadium on a free transfer and becomes manager Garry Monk's first signing since taking over at the helm.
Fabianski ends a seven-year spell with Arsenal, having played his last game in the FA Cup final win over Hull City at Wembley earlier this month.
He now provides strong competition to become Monk's first-choice keeper at the Liberty along with Dutch international Michel Vorm and Gerhard Tremmel.
Fabianski, voted Poland's best top-flight keeper in each season during his two-year spell at Legia Warsaw before a £2million move to the Gunners in 2007, spent the majority of his time at The Emirates as an understudy.
But he signed off on a winning note as his penalty-shootout heroics helped Arsenal to the FA Cup final after a tense semi-final clash with Wigan. Arsene Wenger again included him in his starting XI as the Gunners ended a nine-year wait for a trophy after beating Hull in a dramatic final.
On top of domestic duties, Fabianski also managed 14 appearances in the Champions League under Wenger, with his most recent coming in the 1-1 draw at Bayern Munich - in which he saved a penalty - in March as Arsenal bowed out in the last 16 stage.
