Swansea City Under-21s Stoke City David Adams

Head of coaching David Adams believes Swansea City Under-21s have hit the ground running in category one football with six points from nine in their first three games. The young Swans took a deserved 2-0 win at Landore training ground on Monday night thanks to goals in each half from striker Oliver McBurnie. The U21s could have had more goals had it not been for the heroics of Stoke's keeper with chances from Kingsley, McBurnie, Sheehan well saved. Stoke's efforts were limited to one chance in the second-half as the U21s cruised to a deserved win at Landore.

"It was a real team performance and a great result." Adams said "All the things we talked about leading up to the match were delivered by the players. Oliver McBurnie took his chances and scored two great goals. "Liam Shephard looked excellent tonight, it was good to see him back after a long injury. He has hit the ground running and we hope he continues to progress this season.

"As a team we created a lot of good chances with spells in the second-half where we could and should have had more goals." Adams continued

"When Stoke did attack we controlled the game well and didn't concede under pressure. We managed the game well at 2-0 to get a clean sheet which is another positive. "Overall we are very pleased with the start to the season, to get six points on the board out of nine is excellent. "We never knew how tough category one football would be but we have been confident going into the games, played our style of football and have adapted very quickly to the environment and managed the competitiveness. We seem to be on track at this level and are very happy with our progress so far."
