Swansea City v Burnley at the Liberty in the Barclays Premier League

23rd August

Nathan Dyer's strike proved the difference as Swansea City edged past Burnley at the Liberty to maintain their perfect start to the Barclays Premier League.
The winger broke the deadlock midway through the first half, latching on to Gylfi Sigurdsson's fine pass being firing a shot past Tom Heaton.
The Swans survived a couple of scares in the second half as Lukas Jutkiewicz headed over from six yards and David Jones drew a superb save from Lukasz Fabianski.
But Garry Monk's side held on to claim all three points and make it two wins from two games.

The Swans remained unchanged from the side that beat Manchester United.
Following that memorable 2-1 win at Old Trafford, Monk stuck to the same squad. That meant new signings Federico Fernandez and Tom Carroll didn't feature.

SWANS: Lukasz Fabianski, Angel Rangel, Jordi Amat, Ashley Williams (capt), Neil Taylor, Ki Sung-Yueng, Jonjo Shelvey, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Nathan Dyer (Jefferson Montero, 67), Wayne Routledge (Dwight Tiendalli, 90), Wilfried Bony (Bafetimbi Gomis, 64).
SUBS: Gerhard Tremmel, Jazz Richards, Kyle Bartley, Josh Sheehan.

BURNLEY: Tom Heaton, Scott Arfield, Ben Mee, David Jones (Marvin Sordell, 90+1), Jason Shackell (capt), Dean Marney, Kieran Trippier, Danny Ings, Matthew Taylor (Ross Wallace, 71), Lukas Jutkiewicz (Ashley Barnes, 81), Michael Duff.
SUBS: Matt Gilks, Michael Kightly, Steven Reid, Stephen Ward.

The Swans made a bright start at the Liberty, and they went closeto breaking the deadlock in the third minute as Wayne Routledge got onto the end of Nathan Dyer's pass before crossing to Wilfried Bony, whose header beat keeper Tom Heaton but not skipper Jason Shackell, who headed off the line.
The hosts probed again soon after, with Bony's backheeled-pass sending Routledge down the left flank, but Kieran Trippier got a foot to the ball to deny the winger a run towards goal.
Burnley hit straight back, with striker Danny Ings firing a powerful volley just over the crossbar after being teed up by Lukas Jutkiewicz.
And Ings caused more problems for the home defence as Scott Arfield's neat pass into the box found the striker, but his dangerous, low cross was parried by Lukasz Fabianski before he collected the loose ball.
Garry Monk's side were soon back on the offensive though, and when Routledge's low cross found Sigurdsson, the midfielder's first-time side-footed shot was kept out by Heaton's fine reflex save.
But the Swans did beat Heaton after 23 minutes as a sublime through ball left Ben Mee stranded with Dyer racing in on goal. And the winger took full advantage as his low shot found the net despite Heaton getting a hand to it.
Sigurdsson then went close to adding a second goal, but he fired his volley over after Duff had nodded out Rangel's cross, before Bony's neat shot on the turn was gathered low down by Heaton in the final action of the half.

HALF-TIME: Swans 1 Burnley 0

Both teams made encouraging starts to the half, with Dean Marney's miss-placed header latched onto by Bony, but the striker scuffed his effort inside the box.
Then a timely challenge from captain Ashley Williams denied Jutkiewicz as he set his sights on goal before Arfield wasted a good opportunity 15 yards out as his volley flew into the away end behind the goal.
Jutkiewicz then went close to equalising as he got onto the end of Marney's cross, but the striker could only direct his volley over the crossbar.
Monk made changes just past the hour mark as Bafetimbi Gomis and Jefferson Montero replaced Bony and Dyer in straight swaps.
Burnley continued their search for an equaliser and they went within inches of doing so as Ings found David Jones inside the box, but his shot was tipped wide by Fabianski and just out of touching distance from Jutkiewicz, who slid in at the back post.
The Swans had to stand firm at the back, with Burnley plugging away.
But, at the other end, Ki Sung-Yueng went close as his volley rose over the crossbar following a Montero cross.
And, with the game entering the 90th minute, Monk made a final change as Dwight Tiendalli came on for Routledge.
Three minutes followed, with Burnley pushing hard for an equaliser, but the Swans held out for a second consecutive league win.
