Team changes not reason for loss

Michael Laudrup dismissed his selection policy as the reason behind the Swans' 5-0 defeat at Liverpool.
The Great Dane made seven changes to the starting XI that had beaten QPR 4-1 the previous week. But the Swans endured their biggest defeat in the Barclays Premier League as Brendan Rodgers' side ran riot at Anfield.
Steven Gerrard scored from the penalty spot to give Liverpool a 1-0 half-time lead, but three goals in quick succession from Philippe Coutinho, Jose Enrique and Luis Suarez blew the visitors away before a Daniel Sturridge penalty concluded the scoring.
It proved a miserable afternoon in Merseyside as the Swans now look forward to the Capital One Cup Final against Bradford City at Wembley.
But Laudrup refused to point the finger towards the seven changes he made as the reason behind the Swans' downfall.
"People can say we made a lot of changes. But you can look back at the times we made a lot of changes, like Fulham where we made seven changes and still won.
"I won't exclude that some players may be thinking of the game next week, which, in a certain way, is understandable because it is maybe the biggest game in the history of the club.
"But now you see what happens if it is like that.
"Before this, we played QPR at home and we talked about the focus being on that game. It was a great performance to win 4-1, so it was very disappointing to see what happened today.
"We came in at half-time 1-0 behind but we were still in the game.
"Then they score three goals in ten minutes. You can't do that.
"We could have lost seven or eight-nil easily if it wasn't for Michel (Vorm) today.
"We have to learn from it. Everyone needs to look at what they could have done better."
