Katy Hosford, Emma Beynon and Deanna Lewis took home the accolades as Swansea City Ladies names their award winners for the 2019-20 season.

While the new campaign kicks off today, the Coronavorus pandemic ensured Ian Owen’s side only recently received the Welsh Premier Women’s League trophy following last season’s title triumph.

The Swans enjoyed an unbeaten season and, as a result of such an impressive campaign, there was many nominees for their end-of-season awards after winning their first league title since 2017.

However, it was Hosford, Beynon and Lewis who picked up the prizes.

Hosford was named Player of the Season after a campaign in which she was in prolific form in front of goal.

She found the back of the net on 20 occasions, which also saw her pick up the Top Goalscorer award.

“I’m really pleased to win Player of the Season and Top Goalscorer,” said Hosford.

Emma Beynon

“I always aim to improve every year and I feel like the help of my team-mates - who are always encouraging and pushing me - helped me to achieve these awards.

Midfield maestro Beynon scooped the Players’ Player of the Season award and was  honoured to have earned the recognition of her team-mates for her performances last season.

“It feels great to win Players’ Player of the Season in what was a great season for the club. To be appreciated by the girls for my hard work is a great feeling,” Beynon said.

“Every player played their part in winning the league and the award could have gone to any player, but I am happy to have won.”

The final award of Young Player of the Season went to goalkeeper Deanna Lewis who - in her first season with the Swans - claimed the WPWL Golden Glove award after only conceding one goal all season.

Deanna Lewis

“It feels amazing to have had the season that I had with the Swans,” said Lewis.

“Not only to have won the golden glove but to win Young Player of the Year. I’m excited to push myself even more this coming season.”

The Swans kick off their Welsh Premier Women’s League title defence this Sunday live on S4C as they travel to face rivals Cardiff City (4pm kick-off).
