Graham Potter insists Swansea City are focused on preparation rather than transfer speculation as they build towards the new Championship season.

The Swans play their first game under Potter when they take on League Two side Yeovil Town at Huish Park tomorrow (7.45pm).

Potter has stated that some “restructuring” work on the Swans squad will have to happen during the summer transfer window following the club’s relegation from the Premier League.

Even so, the new Swans boss says all his fit players are in contention for the Glovers friendly.

“The nature of football, with the transfer windows open at certain times, is that you have to understand that things can happen,” Potter said.

“We know there’s a restructuring process that will happen here, but at the same time it all has to be on the right terms for the club.

“We are just working with the players as you normally would. You cannot think any other way.”

The Swans kicked off their second week of pre-season training today as the clock ticks down towards their second-tier opener at Sheffield United on August 4.

And Potter is adamant that transfer talk will have no bearing on the work being done at Fairwood.

“Football is very hard to predict and I must say that regardless of any speculation surrounding them, all the boys have come in and been totally focused and professional, so I am full of respect for them,” he added.

“I will do my best to get them fit and prepared for the start of the season.”
