What we said....

25th February

After winning the club's first major piece of silverware, the Swans squad gave their reaction to winning the Capital One Cup.
Here's a selection of quotes from yesterday's interviews from local, national and international media.
We will also bring you full video interviews with the squad pitchside at Wembley and in the victorious changing room via our website.

Two-goal man-of-the-match Nathan Dyer: "This is brilliant. We knew history was on the cards and to create it feels amazing, up there with the best moments in my life.
"We tried to approach the game as we do every game and in the end we delivered with a great performance, one of the best we've had this season and to get two goals is incredible.
"Every year since I've come to the club we've progressed each year. We keep growing and I see no limit to where we can go given the players we keep bringing in and the steps we keep making."

Midfielder Jonathan de Guzman, another Swan to grab two goals on the day: "It is a dream just to play in a final and be part of this team  in my first year here. It was the perfect stage for us in our 100th year of the club.
"This is one of the best days of my career, a massive highlight.
"My main focus when I came here from Villarreal was to get minutes on the field and playing for my ex-coach (Michael Laudrup).
"I have been welcomed by the fans and the squad from day one.
"When I came here I didn't think we would be winning trophies, but beating Liverpool (in the fourth round) put us that step closer and that gave us the belief we could go all the way.
"Getting there is great for this club.
"When you hear the history of this club, knowing that they might not have had a club anymore ten years ago, everyone is so proud of what we have achieved.
"It is fantastic. Swansea are on the map."

Swans skipper Garry Monk: "In our centenary year, to do this and bring a major trophy back to the club puts the icing on the cake.
"Swansea could have actually not had a football club, that's how close it was. To be on that journey and to come to where we are now, the board deserve so much credit.
"This cup is for the club and the fans and the city itself."

Swans vice-captain Ashley Williams: "This is what we all dreamed about as little boys. We had a job to do and I thought we did it brilliantly.
"We knew they were a bit of a dangerous team, they'd beaten Premier League teams before. We knew we had to do our job.
"The boys were really professional about it, they carried on playing and tried to score more goals."

Korean midfielder Ki Sung-Yueng started in defence alongside, and he was delighted with the way his afternoon went: "I did not expect it, but I thought it went okay for me. I haven't played there much before but I was happy to do something for the team.
"It is great for the club to be in Europe. I have played there for Celtic and every player  enjoys a new experience playing different clubs.
"It is a chance for everyone and reward for all the players and the fans, who have been amazing.
"You don't get many chances as a player to play in front of 82,000 fans.
"It is the first time we have won a major trophy, it is very meaningful for me, for all the players and for the fans because they always support us well, wherever we play.
"This group of players just gets stronger and it has done that through this cup competition."

Swans legend and First Team Coach Alan Curtis: "We showed the players a montage (before the game) because it is not just a cup final, it is about the 100 years.
"I think it is just important for the players to be aware of the history of the club, of the great players and teams we have had before. It was only a couple of minutes, but it had people like Ivor (Allchurch), Robbie James, James Thomas.
"It showed a few things, clips from the past. And the cup run from this season.
"It was important for the players to know the history.
"The history is what made us what we are today. I thought it was really important, as well for the foreign boys to get a feel for it.
"The boys played well and probably didn't need it, but I thought it was important for the boys to get a taste of what it is all about at the club."

Spanish winger Pablo Hernandez: "I think it's not important that one team is Premier League and the other is League Two. At the start of the match it's 50-50, but today we played very well. We scored five goals and it was a nice match for us.
"For us it was important to score in the first 20 minutes. Nathan did that and afterwards it was more easy for us.
"It's unbelievable, it's a nice moment and an historic moment for the club.
"For Swansea, now is the moment to enjoy this title.
"I think any final is special, it is different from the rest.
"I played one final in Spain, I lost it and now I'm very happy to win this one. I'll enjoy it.
"It's my first cup and I'm very, very happy.
"I've previously played Champions League with Valencia. It is good for all the players to play in Europe."

Right-back Angel Rangel: "If you'd have told me when I joined that we'd be in the top ten of the Premier League and in the League Cup final, I wouldn't have believed it.
"We're just getting better and better and this was a great performance and a fantastic achievement for the club.
"We don't know how far we can go but, in six seasons, we've won two promotions, one cup and now we're in Europe.
"We need to stay in the Premier League as long as we can and we'll see how well we can do in Europe."

Wales international Ben Davies: "It's incredible. It's the best day in my life.
"Winning a major trophy in my first season - I can't really do it justice with words.
"I haven't quite thought about Europe next season yet, but that is another amazing achievement for the club."
