Winning mentality key for Swansea City

Steve Cooper has vowed Swansea City will not waver from a winning mentality as they look to continue their excellent start to the Championship season against Birmingham.

The Swans are in the midst of their best start to a league campaign in 41 years after taking three wins and a draw from their first quartet of fixtures.

Former Swans’ assistant Pep Clotet brings his Blues’ side to SA1 on the back of their midweek win over Barnsley, part of Birmingham’s own positive start to the campaign.

But, with Swansea unbeaten in nine league games overall, and 13 on home turf, Cooper has made clear he will only ever send his side out with one aim; three points.

“I think we can play well and win any game,” said the head coach.

“That isn’t always the case because football isn’t that easy but we’ve got into every game knowing with the right plan, if we get it right, we are good enough to win the game.

“That will continue in every game we play. There’s no point setting up negatively or playing for draws.

“We are a footballing team and, if we get it right, we will be dominating possession.

“It is hard to do that and it won’t always go our way but that will always be our first idea.

“If we do that we will create chances, and if you create chances you have a better chance of winning games.”
