Wright: U18s must take opportunities

20th October

Coach Anthony Wright wants Swansea City’s Under-18s to continue to take their opportunities in front of goal as they face Norwich City at Colney Training Centre on Saturday (11am).

The young Swans bounced back from two consecutive defeats in Premier League South to beat Brighton 2-1 at Landore last week.

The U18s’ third win of the season sees the Swans placed sixth in the table with the Canaries going into tomorrow’s game 10th following a four-game unbeaten run of one defeat and three draws.

“Creating chances is crucial for us,” the Under-18s coach said. “We did that last week against Brighton and claimed a good win.

“We wanted a response from the players to the defeat against Southampton.

“We did not play well as a team in that game but put it right last week and performed with more energy on the pitch.

“We must look to deliver that same energy tomorrow against Norwich, get on get on the front foot early, continue to press and create chances in the final third.

“We have been guilty of not taking chances at times this season so must make sure we take the opportunities we create in front of goal.”

Midfielder Finley Hazell looks set to make his first start for the Under-18s this season after recovering from a shin splints injury, but Marc Walsh will miss the trip as he continues to recover from concussion.
