Wright: U18s taking confidence into season

12th August

Anthony Wright believes Swansea City Under-18s will take confidence into today’s opening game against Reading buoyed by their final flourish last season.

The young Swans face the Royals in Premier League South at Hogwood Park (11am).

The U18s ended their 2016-17 campaign with four victories and a draw in their final seven games, and Wright insists they will aim to continue that form.

“We take confidence from our final games of last season,” said Wright.

“Our aim will be to take that form into this campaign and start with a decent result against Reading.

“Every game we play in category one football is going to be tough, but we feel we can go into the season with confidence.

“All our players have settled really well with our new recruits bringing a different dimension to the team.

“If we can win today’s game it will set the tone for the campaign and give us a good feeling.

“Our target is to improve on previous seasons and finish as high as we can. We will strive to do that.”
