Broadchurch actor signs-up to Celebs match

7th May

Broadchurch star Joe Sims is the latest celeb to sign up for this month's charity football match at the Liberty Stadium.
The Bristolian actor, who shot to fame playing accused murderer Nigel Carter in the award winning ITV crime drama in 2013, says he can't wait to join the football fun to help raise money for local charities through SwansAid.
The 34-year-old joins a host of other celebs ahead of the match on Sunday, May 31 including X-Factor star Jay James, I'm a Celeb runner-up Jake Quickenden, Wales rugby legend Shane Williams and last year's winning captain and soap star Adam Woodyatt.
And Joe says he can't wait to line-up either against or alongside one of his heroes.
"I am very excited to take a step up from the Bristol District League to be playing at a Premier League stadium, especially with the likes of Lee Trundle," he said.
"Long before Bristol City got hold of him, I used to be amazed every week by watching him on Soccer AM's Showboat section.
"He went on to play for the team I support, so to be sat in the same dressing room and potentially be in the same team as him will be a dream come true."
Joe, who is about to start filming a new drama on ITV, says he wanted to get involved in the day after hearing about last year's match at Liberty Stadium which attracted over 10,500 fans and helped raise more than £55,000 for charity.
"One of the lads from Soccer AM told me about it," he added. "From there I was hooked. Then the Swans legend Lee Trundle got in touch and asked if I wanted to be in involved and you can't say no to Trunds.
"It is a great opportunity for people to get together, have some fun and raise money for charity.
"I'm definitely going to have to get in some training. I'm glad it is roll on, roll off subs because I am sure I will literally have to take the roll off option at some point!"

See Joe and a host of other stars battle it out for the Celebs Trophy at Liberty Stadium this May.
