Dyer's historic goal in Swansea City's America tour opener

17th July

Nathan Dyer will forever be inscribed into the history books at Milwaukee's Miller Park.
The home of Milwaukee Brewers baseball team hosted its first football match as the Swans took on Mexican side Chivas Guadalajara in front of 31,000 fans on Wednesday night.
And Dyer became the first person to score after his deflected strike put the Swans ahead in the 57th minute.
The 26-year-old winger was one of ten changes made at the break by Garry Monk, who saw his side concede a last-gasp penalty as the game ended 1-1.
The Swans took many positives from the game, and Dyer's little piece of history was among them.

"It was great to get on the pitch and playing football, and to get the first goal in the first ever football match staged here is a nice little bit of history for me," he said.
"Despite what went on at the end, we can take a lot from the game.
"It was good for us to get at least 45 minutes under our belts. We are not at full sharpness yet, but that's what we are working towards for the start of the season.
"The first week of pre-season has been very, very tough. We have been training throughout the whole day so to finally play some football was great for all of us.
"And I think for the younger lads, coming away with the first team can be a little nerve-wracking but we have made them feel at home and it's a great learning period for them. They got some game-time and they did well in front of such a big crowd.
"The new players also got a feel of how we play and the way we want to do things. It will all come together soon."

While the Swans take positives from the clash against the 11-time Mexican champions, the host venue was also praised.
Dyer added: "It was a little crazy. The baseball stadium is huge, and the fans made a lot of noise. It was a great atmosphere.
"It was a big event for the stadium and I think the whole event really delivered and was a big success."
The Swans next face North American Soccer League side Minnesota United on Saturday (7pm local time) in their final tour fixture.
